Our catering provision is well received by all pupils and staff with a variety of meals and snacks available to suit all tastes and interests. Pupils can also purchase a warm drink in the Dining Hall at break time.

Our ‘cook to order’ is proving a huge success with fajitas, noodles and omelettes being firm favourites. Pupils are also able to eat their packed lunches in the Dining Hall but we remind pupils and parents/carers that pot noodles are not permitted.

Children’s Mental Health Week 3 – 9 February 2020.

Set up by the children’s mental health charity Place2Be, the week shines a spotlight on the importance of children and young people’s mental health.

Please help us to raise awareness of the importance of supporting children and young people’s mental health during the week.

The theme of this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is Find your Brave. Life often throws challenges our way. Bravery isn’t about coping alone or holding things in, it’s about finding positive ways to deal with things that might be difficult, overcoming physical and mental challenges and looking after yourself.

ThinkNinja

We remind parents/carers that we commissioned ThinkNinja®, a new app co-designed by clinical psychologists and secondary school pupils, to provide young people with a range of strategies and coping skills to support their mental health, emotional wellbeing and to build greater resilience.

The app supports young people in a range of daily life issues such as feeling stressed, feeling low or having unhelpful thoughts and behaviour that might be triggered by exams, struggling to make friends and social situations.

ThinkNinja® is free to download for all pupils on a smart device such as a phone or tablet. When signing up to ThinkNinja, pupils can put their own home postcode (if they live in Hampshire) or the school postcode when registering. The school’s postcode is PO16 8AH. Year 9 Focus Fortnight Monday 3 February 2020 – Thursday 13 February 2020

A letter has been sent to parents/carers on 30 January 2020 regarding our Year 9 focus fortnight which focusses on any low-level disruption which presents in the classroom and disturbs the learning climate. Should parents/carers have any queries about the fortnight then please direct your communication via the Year Team using the office@camshill.com email address.

Year 9 Subject Parents’ Evening

The Year 9 Parents’ Subject Evening is taking place on Tuesday 11 February 2020 where parents/carers can meet with subject teachers to discuss their child’s progress. The specific staff involved in the focus fortnight will also be in attendance. If parents/carers have not yet signed up for this, please do so using the following this link.

Recycling Stamps, Notes and Old Coins

Cams Hill are proud to be supporting Solent Mind with their recent campaign to recycle stamps, notes and old coins. If you have any used stamps, old coins or old notes, please send them in and we’ll gladly pass them on to the collection point. This is not only a recycling initiative but will also help Solent Mind raise valuable funds. Please just make sure the stamp is cut out of your envelope with a margin of about a 1 cm! Thank you!

Accepted Stamps / Coins

  • Any stamp – foreign or British of any age.
  • Stamp books and/albums.

Yoga and Mindfulness – Mindful Mondays

This Half Term we have continued our focus on kindness – kindness to others and to ourselves. We have been resting in relaxing poses and nurturing our nervous systems; learning new breathing techniques to calm our busy minds. This week we came together in a ‘circle of kindness’ and felt empowered by each other’s support for one another.

Mindful Mondays run every afternoon tutor time in the Dance Studio for Key Stage 4 pupils. Key Stage 3 pupils who are interested in Yoga and Mindfulness should speak to their Head of Year.
