What a week it has been! We have continued to see pupils embracing school life and all that is on offer, but our Open Evening on Thursday was a real highlight. It was fantastic to welcome so many visitors through our doors and to have the opportunity to show prospective families what makes Cams Hill such a special school.
A huge thank you goes to our pupils, staff and wider school community who worked phenomenally hard to make the evening such a success. From welcoming visitors and talking about their experiences of school, to showcasing lessons, activities and the many opportunities available, everyone played their part and represented the school brilliantly. It was a great example of the pride and sense of community that we have across Cams Hill.
As we look ahead, there is plenty happening over the coming weeks. Our Year 11 pupils will begin their Autumn exams from Monday 5 October, giving them an important opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned and to gain valuable examination experience. We also have our Year 7 Power to Progress evening on Tuesday 6 October, flu immunisations on Tuesday 6 and Friday 9 October, and the school photographer will be with us on Monday 19 October for Years 7 and 11.
There is lots to look forward to over the next few weeks, and we are grateful, as always, for the continued support of our parents and carers as we work together to make the most of the opportunities ahead.
Safety on the School Site
To help keep the movement of pupils around the site safe and manageable, we ask that parents and carers do not drive into the staff car park, particularly at the end of the school day when the site is at its busiest. At this time we have a large number of pupils moving around the school, as well as taxis that need access to Reception to collect pupils.

Medication in School
This is a reminder that pupils must not carry medication, including paracetamol or any other medication, on their person whilst at school. If your child needs medication during the school day, it must be stored in the First Aid Room and can only be administered once a medical form has been completed by a parent or carer.
If you require a medical form, please contact Reception, who will be happy to assist you.
Public Uniform Services Trip to HMS Prince of Wales
The ship’s company of HMS Prince of Wales extended a warm welcome Cams Hill school last week.
The pupils gained an insight into life in the Royal Navy, and experienced one of the United Kingdom’s most advanced and capable ships. The visit was informative and inspiring and offered the pupils a unique chance to meet the crew, learn about naval operations, engineering, leadership, teamwork, and the wide range of careers available within Defence.
Paper Birds Workshop
Each September, we are delighted to welcome the inspiring Paper Birds Theatre Company to school, to work with our GCSE Drama pupils. The workshops are designed to support Year 10 pupils in creating thought-provoking devised theatre, while helping Year 11 pupils develop their practical interpretation of scripts.
It is consistently one of the highlights of our academic year, with staff often learning as much as the pupils themselves. Watching our pupils collaborate creatively, challenge their ideas, and expand their practical skill set is a genuine pleasure. The experience plays a vital role in developing confident, imaginative, and highly accomplished Drama pupils.
Open Evening
On Thursday evening we opened our doors to welcome prospective families into our fantastic school for our annual Open Evening.
As a community of pupils, staff, and governors we are very proud of our school and value the opportunity to share this with others. We had over 300 pupils volunteering their free time to meet and greet, show our visitors around the site, and share their experiences and reflections as members of the school community. The pupils are truly outstanding ambassadors; it is humbling to listen to them speak so fondly about the school and their teachers, and they never fail to impress both visitors and staff alike.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who was involved in making the evening as special as it was and to everyone who was able to come along and visit us.
Open Mornings
We are delighted to offer families of Year 6 pupils the opportunity to visit our school during the school day. The tours last approximately 40 minutes and start at 09.10, 10.10 and 11.30, these run Monday to Friday up until October half term ahead of the final deadline for school applications.

Colleges/Apprenticeships Library Drop-Ins
Miss Vadis will be in the library every Tuesday lunch time to answer any career/next step related questions. This is open to all year groups, from next week local providers will also be there to help support with applications, course and college/apprenticeship questions. Attached is the list of those attending. This is a great opportunity for pupils to find out more about what is available to them post-16.
Next Steps Evening
On Wednesday 16 September our Year 11 pupils attended our Next Steps Evening to speak with local college and apprenticeship providers about their post-16 offers. It was a fantastic evening and wonderful to see so many of our Year 11 pupils engaging with providers, we hope this event helped them decide on their next steps. We also recommend pupils visit individual open evenings, please find a list below of all the key dates and deadlines.
