Weekly Message 309 – 10 July 2026
10th July 2026

As we approach the penultimate week of the Summer Term, we will be continuing to celebrate the achievements, memories, and milestones of another fantastic year at Cams Hill School. Following the excitement of our Prom and our 70th Anniversary celebrations, there is still plenty to look forward to as we come together as a school community to mark the end of the year.
Celebration Assemblies
Throughout next week, pupils will take part in celebration assemblies, recognising their achievements, successes, and contributions across the year.
Awards Evenings
We will also be hosting our Awards Evenings, celebrating the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of our pupils. These events provide a wonderful opportunity to recognise the many achievements of our pupils and to share these special moments with families.
Tuesday 21 July 2026 – Celebration Day
We will be coming together for our Celebration Day, a chance for pupils and staff to enjoy a day of activities and reflect on the year’s highlights.
Wednesday 22 July 2026 – Last Day of the Summer Term
The final day of term will be Wednesday 22 July, with school closing to pupils at 12:30pm.
B Team Netball Tournament Cancelled
The B Team Netball Tournament will not be running due to the hot weather.
Lost Property
We currently have a large amount of lost property in Reception, including coats, blazers, and other items. Please remind your children to check for anything they may have misplaced, or feel free to come and look through the items yourself.
We have reunited what we can, but many belongings remain unclaimed. To help avoid this in future, please ensure all items are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
Any property left in school at the end of term will be donated to charity.
Cams Hill School – 70th Anniversary

This week we have been celebrating the past, present, and future of Cams Hill School with a range of activities to mark the 70th Anniversary of Cams Hill/Fareham Girls Grammar School.
Tuesday
We captured the moment with the present staff and pupils with a whole school photograph, the first we believe since early 1996. The canteen also joined in with the celebrations with a Best of British all day breakfast and apple crumble and custard on the menu.
Wednesday
A Time Capsule ceremony, with members of the History Club, the Headteacher, Chair of Governors and the Mayor of Fareham. The time capsule contained various letters and school memorabilia to be opened in the school’s centenary in 2056. We also invited former Cams Hill pupils into school for a tour and a trip down memory lane!
Thursday and Friday
We welcomed the future of Cams Hill School with our Year 6 Transition Day followed by the opening of the Cams Hill School 70th exhibition. This charts the 70-year history of the school, with hundreds of photos, documents and memorabilia from the last seven decades. Models were also on display from the Art Department and the 3D Design Club to commemorate this milestone, as well as a commemorative magazine which will be available to purchase. The week will finish off with a brilliant outdoor summer concert on the school field this evening with both past and present pupils performing musical pieces, alongside a BBQ and an ice cream van.
This anniversary week has been a wonderful reminder of the strength of the Cams Hill School community, and while an enormous amount of work has taken place behind the scenes, it has been more than worth it to celebrate 70 incredible years.
Year 11 Prom

Last Friday, our Year 11 pupils celebrated the end of their GCSE/Key Stage 4 examinations and the end of their journey with us at Cams Hill School with a memorable Prom at the Village Hotel.
The evening was a wonderful celebration, with pupils arriving in style and enjoying a night of music, dancing, laughter and friendship. It was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to reflect on their time at Cams Hill, celebrate their achievements and create lasting memories before embarking on the next stage of their education. It was particularly pleasing to see so many pupils embracing the occasion with the maturity and respect that have characterised so much of their time at Cams Hill School.
We would like to congratulate all our Year 11 pupils on their hard work and resilience throughout the year and wish them every success for the future.
History Trip to Munich

This week, our excellent Year 10 historians visited Munich and Nuremberg to enrich their understanding of their GCSE History course. Their visit included exploring the city of Munich’s history, visiting Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial and exploring the Nazi Rally Grounds of Nuremberg.
Pupils behaved with utmost respect for the sites we visited, and we feel incredibly proud and grateful to have taken such thoughtful and reflective pupils to deepen their understanding of their studies. Thank you to parents/carers for their support – pupils were very grateful for the opportunity.

Years 7/8 Athletics Success
I am delighted to share the success of some of our Year 7 and 8 athletes, who travelled to Winchester on Tuesday to represent the Fareham and Gosport District at the County Athletics Championships.
Our pupils represented both the district and Cams Hill School exceptionally well, demonstrating outstanding commitment, respect and enthusiasm throughout the day. It was fantastic to see so many of our athletes progress to their event finals and compete to such a high standard against the best young athletes in the county.
A special mention must go to our standout performers:
L Bavister, who achieved an outstanding 3rd place in the county in the javelin.
G Brooks, who secured an excellent 2nd place in the county in the javelin.
These are fantastic achievements and are a credit to the hard work and dedication both pupils have shown.
Years 7-8 Badminton Success

On Wednesday, 11 of our Year 7 and 8 pupils represented Cams Hill School in the Years 7/8 Badminton Doubles Tournament.
Every pupil represented the school with outstanding courage, resilience, and respect throughout the competition, demonstrating excellent teamwork and sportsmanship.
I am delighted to share that Cams Hill Schol achieved an exceptional overall result, with our pairs finishing in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, meaning we were crowned overall tournament champions.
This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the pupils’ hard work, commitment, and positive attitude.
Year 8 won silver in the netball finals.
Year 8 Boys’ B team football won against Brune Park
Sports Day results will be announced on Monday 20 July 2026.
