Weekly Message 290 – 23 January 2026

23rd January 2026

This week, we have been incredibly proud of how our pupils continue to take responsibility and live out The Cams Hill Way as well as reflecting our values in everything they do, both in and out of the classroom.

Our Pupil Leadership Team continue to do a fantastic job representing pupils and the school -please read below about their recent trip to the Houses of Parliament. We also would like to extend a well done to our Year 11 GCSE Drama pupils, who completed their practical exam this week – a huge achievement and a testament to their hard work and resilience.

With the recent wet weather, we really appreciate the support of families to ensure pupils are dressed suitably for their journeys to and from school, which helps them stay comfortable and ready to learn. We kindly ask that pupils wear their blazers under their coats rather than carrying them, to help keep them dry as the expectation remains that they are worn in school.

Please also note that next Friday, 30 January 2026, is an INSET day. This is a common closure day and will be a valuable opportunity for cross-collaboration across schools in the Fareham and Gosport area, strengthening practice and learning for the benefit of all our pupils.

Pupil Leadership  Team Visit to Houses of Parliament

The Pupil Leadership Team visited the Houses of Parliament yesterday and spent the day exploring the rich history of Parliament and its iconic buildings. They toured both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, gaining a real sense of how decisions are made at the heart of government.

The team also took part in a workshop where they learned how petitions work, from creating one to understanding how it can be formally heard in Parliament. It was a fascinating experience and a great day for everyone involved.

For Parents – What I Wish My Parents or Carers Knew

The Children’s Commissioner has put together a fantastic guide for parents and carers. At around 26 pages it goes into a lot of depth including:

  • Screen time.
  • When bad things happen.
  • Artificial intelligence.
  • Conversation starters.
  • Actions to take checklist.
  • And much more.
