Weekly Message 286 – 12 December 2025
12th December 2025

Santa Run
Thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us for the Year 9 Pupil Progress Evening on Tuesday. We truly appreciate you taking the time to meet with staff and celebrate the achievements and efforts of your children and where they can continue to develop. Your continued support makes an enormous difference, and it was wonderful to share the progress pupils have made this term.
We would also like to extend a huge well done to everyone involved in Thursday’s brilliant Christmas Concert. The musical talent on show clearly reflected weeks of hard work, dedication, and practice from our pupils and staff.
Looking ahead to next week, celebration assemblies will run throughout the week, and on Tuesday we will hold the nasal flu immunisation catch-up session. Wednesday marks our Diversity Celebration as communicated previously. On Thursday, our choir will be visiting a local care home to perform festive songs.
Please remember that Friday is the last day of term: pupils may come in non-school uniform, and the school will close for all pupils at 12:30pm.
Next term begins with an INSET day on Monday 5 January 2026, with all pupils returning to school on Tuesday 6 January for the first day of the Spring Term.
Mission Christmas
Thank you for all the contributions so far. Please note we can accept donations up to 1600 on Tuesday 16 December, so there is still time to donate if you can. Gifts must be new and unwrapped. We thank you so much for all your support for our local community.

Christmas Concert

On Thursday we held our annual Christmas Concert. What an incredibly talented group of young musicians we have. We listened to our school ensembles, bands and soloists perform some Christmas (and some less Christmassy) classics. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their hard work and share their talents with the Cams Hill community.
Call for Work Experience Placements
Our Year 10 pupils will be completing mandatory work experience Monday 13 March 2026 to Friday 19 March 2026. Are you a local business to Fareham/Portchester/Portsmouth who would be willing to take a pupil and inspire them in the world of work? If so, please get in touch by emailing careers@camshill.com. Please share!

Christmas Jumper Day and Santa Run

We had around 250 runners join the Cam Hill School 2025 Santa Run on Thursday. The cross-country route took staff and pupils around the school site where music was playing, bubbles were blown and our wonderful pupil leadership team guided the runners along the route.
We cheered on those with Santa hats, onesies, inflatable costumes and fairy lights while they ran, jogged and walked the one-mile course to help raise money for Mission Christmas.
The total hasn’t been confirmed as of yet as the deadline is not until next week but it is looking very, very good! Thank you to everyone who participated and those who were sponsored, donated or helped in any way. We will update you all next week.
It was a brilliant event full of positivity, festive spirit and brought the school community together in a perfect way as we move towards the end of term.
Young Carers’ Gingerbread Christmas Cook Club

Our Young Carers Gingerbread Christmas Cook Club has been in full festive spirit this week as pupils came together to bake and enjoy delicious seasonal treats. The club offers a warm, welcoming space where young carers can take a break from their responsibilities, share time with friends, and learn new kitchen skills in a relaxed and supportive environment. Creativity and the sweet smell of gingerbread filled the room as everyone got hands-on with mixing, rolling, shaping and baking their own festive biscuits.
Some of our Year 7 Nexus pupils also joined in with festivities which enable some of our older pupils to play a vital role in supporting our younger members. By helping with the recipe and offering encouragement, our older pupils gained confidence and strengthened their leadership skills. At the same time, the younger pupils enjoy having positive role models beside them, creating a warm, collaborative atmosphere where everyone feels included. This shared experience not only builds practical cooking skills but also fosters teamwork and a sense of school community.
Careers Drop-Ins – Tuesday Lunchtimes
Every Tuesday lunch time the library is open for Year 10 and 11 only. Miss Vadis our Careers Co-ordinator is there to answer any questions about college and apprenticeship applications, careers and work experience applications. Each week we also have a “Next Steps” provider in for pupils to talk to, last week Havant and South Downs College attended and on Tuesday 16 December we have South Hampshire College Group (Fareham College).

Local College Open Evenings
Many local colleges have Open Evenings in the new year. If a Year 11 pupil has not applied to college yet, it is a great way to help them decide by seeing the courses, facilities and staff. These events are also open to Year 10 pupils and are a perfect way to start forming those next steps decisions at an earlier date. A list of all upcoming open evenings and application deadlines 25/26 is on our website at the bottom of this page Post-16 Options – Cams Hill School | State Comprehensive Secondary School in Fareham.
