Thank you to all parents and carers who were able to join us for the Year 8 and Year 9 Tutor Evening on Tuesday and for the feedback provided with the completion of the questionnaire. We read this feedback with interest; it is important for us to hear parents’/carers’ perspectives, alongside pupil and staff voice, as we continue to develop the school for its community.

We remind parents and carers that if there is a concern or query they wish to raise with the school, this can be done at any time – details on how to contact the school can be found on our website We also remind parents/carers that for each year group there is a second parents’ evening later in the year which will be face to face appointments. Dates of all events can be found on the school’s calendar.

College and Apprenticeship Providers

Every week we have representatives from a college or apprenticeship provider visit us at lunchtime for pupils to speak to and ask questions.  They are based in the foyer at the back of reception by the Events Hall along with Mrs Vadis, the school’s Careers Coordinator.

On Thursday 23 November we are pleased to welcome representatives from Itchen College and we invite any pupil in any year group to come along and hear what the college has to offer.

Children in Need

We held a non-school uniform day on Thursday for Children in Need. A huge thank you to all who donated. Unfortunately, the ‘Sponge the Teacher’ event had to be postponed until next week because of the weather – keep a watch out for photos next week!

Sponsored Silence

This week, 12 pupils in 8C5 took part in a Sponsored Silence for Children in Need using whiteboards as a method of communication. They raised lots of money for charity and had lots of fun trying their best not to talk. Some even created silence licences to show their teachers. We thank the pupils for their time and effort given to raising money to such a great cause.

Anti-Bullying – Odd Socks Week

Pupils were invited to wear odd socks this week to #makeanoise about anti-bullying. This was a chance for pupils to show different aspects of their personalities by wearing different patterns, colours, and themes that represent them.

Part of the aim was to allow pupils to feel safe to express themselves without judgement and to celebrate differences. Lots of pupils fully embraced this opportunity and we loved getting to talk to them about their sock choices!

Unloc Accelerate Programme

On Tuesday and Thursday this week a group of Year 10 pupils attended the ‘Unloc Accelerate Programme’.  They took part in a variety of activities, eg building a tower to support a melon and creating a t-shirt to represent leadership, all designed to help build creativity, critical thinking, teamwork and presenting skills.  The pupils had a great time and Unloc received extremely positive feedback from them about the programme. Thank you to all involved.

Year 8 Cross Country

Congratulations to the Year 8 Cross Country runners who competed in the district competition on Monday. The girls finished 3rd and boys, 4th against nine other school which is an outstanding achievement.

We have now participated in both the Year 7 and 8 Cross Country. If any pupil finishes in the top 16 of their respective races, they qualify to represent our district at the Hampshire Championships next year. Across both year groups we have 11 pupils who have qualified for this which is outstanding. Well done to all who participated.
