Weekly Message – Issue 8
Pupils have returned following the half term break in good spirits and ready for the half term ahead. We have had a number of visitors in school this week, to see the school and lessons in action; it has been an absolute pleasure dropping into lessons to see the variety of learning experiences our pupils are offered and the pupils focussed and engaged with their learning, with their teachers and with each other.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us on Tuesday at the Year 9 Parents’ Evening – 93% attendance! We often refer to the importance of the partnership between school and home to support pupils to achieve the best possible outcomes; the opportunity for teachers to meet with you to discuss your child’s progress is valued and we hope that the conversations you had on Tuesday assist you to support your child at home. Thank you also for the completed questionnaires; we appreciate your time with this and value the feedback you offer which will now feed into our planning and improvement discussions.
There are lots of events and activities taking place this next half term – do keep a check on the school calendar. On there you will see that we have our first, for this year, whole school enrichment day taking place on 13 November. On this day the usual timetable will be suspended and all pupils will take part in a number of themed sessions throughout the day: Year 7 – Kindness, Year 8 -Centenary Suffrage and WW1 Commemoration, Year 9 – ‘Prison Me No Way’ – Crime Prevention, Year 10 – Budgeting and Borrowing, Year 11 – GCSE Revision Preparation.
Year 11 will begin their mock GCSE examinations on Monday, we wish them the very best and remind them that these exams are all part of the learning process and preparation for the final exams in the Summer Term. We encourage pupils and parents/carers to make use the Year 11 Revision information on the school’s website which can be found using the following this link
