Just like that, we have reached the end of the second full week! Pupils have now completed their timetable for the first time, and our Year 7 pupils have also well and truly found their way; it has been lovely to see them becoming increasingly confident as they settle into secondary school life.
Punctuality remains important, and we ask that pupils arrive at school on time and ready to learn. When the weather is particularly poor, journeys can understandably take a little longer, so please do encourage pupils to allow extra time and, where necessary, adjust their travel arrangements accordingly. Arriving on time means pupils can get settled, meet the expectations of the school day from the outset and avoid missing valuable learning. Thank you, as always, for your continued support in helping pupils to make a positive start to each school day.
Across all year groups, pupils continue to reflect our core values of Courage, Courtesy and Commitment in all that they do – in their lessons, around school and in the way they support and encourage one another.
You can read on in this week’s message about the Year 9 Geography fieldwork trip to The Witterings, which gave pupils the opportunity to put their classroom learning into practice and this week we also welcomed Year 11 pupils and their parents and carers to the College Evening. On the evening, post-16 providers were on hand to share information about the courses and opportunities available to them. It was encouraging to see such good attendance and pupils beginning to think carefully about their next steps and plans for life beyond Cams Hill.
There is a real sense of purpose across the school and this makes our school a special place to be.
Alphabet Association (LGBTQ+ Group)
Alphabet Association (LGBTQ+ Group) meets every Thursday at break time in Na3. It is a welcoming space for pupils to meet like-minded people, make new friends, and feel free to be themselves.
Whether pupils want to join in on some fun activities or chat about anything and everything with a great group of people, we’ve got a spot saved for them.
No pressure, no stress—just good vibes and friendly faces.
Year 9 Geography Trip to the Witterings
Ofsted, Cams Hill School and its Geography Department value Geography fieldwork very highly as do our Year 9 pupils if their enthusiasm and capacity for hard work whilst carrying it out are anything to go by.
On Wednesday and Thursday this week the geography department took out the whole of the year group in two batches to the Witterings near Chichester. East Wittering was the location for human geography field work which was to prove if East Wittering village can meet the needs of local people, and West Wittering beach the location for physical geography field work which was to prove if East Head Spit should be protected.
Having around ninety 13- and 14-year-olds descend on a small village might be daunting for its residents, but they soon came forth with compliments about our pupils’ conduct and civility. On Thursday a brief cloudburst may have dampened worksheets but not spirits, and a valuable set of geography data and happy shared experiences were soon garnered by all.
Mr G Blackman would like to thank Miss Hill, Mr Ross and Mr Atkins for their leadership of coaches and teaching groups, and Mr S Blackman, Miss Wright, Mrs Bramble, Mr Tolfree, Miss Vadis, Mr Dickinson, Mrs Dunning, Mr S Johnson, Mr Summerfield, Mrs Tolliday, Mrs Bolton, Mr Atteh and Miss Howell for their help enabling the trip to become a success.
He is also grateful to Mrs Jenns, Mrs Frith, Mrs Nunn and Mrs Stewart for doing all the office work towards the trip.

Hampshire Healthy Families – Two and Beyond Videos
The Hampshire Healthy Families Two and Beyond video series has been refreshed into shorter, bite-sized videos, providing practical tips and advice for families with children aged 2, 3 and 4.
Topics include building confidence and communication skills, encouraging independence and play, and developing healthy routines and other skills children need as they prepare to start school.

Opportunities for Young People- Youth Board and Health & Wellbeing Grants
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is working with Unloc to recruit young people to its Youth Board. Applications are open until 9 October.
