Weekly Message 310 – 17 July 2026

17th July 2026

As we approach the end of another successful academic year, it has been wonderful to spend time this week celebrating the achievements of our pupils. Our Awards Evenings for Year 7 and 8 on Tuesday, and Year 9 and 10 on Thursday, provided a fantastic opportunity to recognise the hard work, commitment and successes of so many pupils.

Alongside this, our Celebration Assemblies have continued throughout the week, with each year group taking the opportunity to reflect on their achievements and celebrate the contributions of their peers. We look forward to celebrating with Year 9 on Monday.

We have also seen the next stage of our school production take place, with auditions held on Wednesday. It was fantastic to see so many pupils showing courage and confidence by putting themselves forward, and we are excited to see how this develops over the coming weeks.

Looking ahead to next week, Tuesday will be our Celebration Day and non-school uniform day. Wednesday is the final day of the Summer Term, and school will close to pupils at 12.30pm.

We would like to wish all families a restful and enjoyable summer break when it arrives. The Summer Holiday runs from Thursday 23 July 2026 to Monday 31 August 2026. Looking ahead to September, Tuesday 1 September and Wednesday 2 September will be INSET days, with no pupils in school. On Thursday 3 September, Year 7 and Year 10 pupils will return to school and Friday 4 September will be the first day back for all pupils, including Year 8, Year 9 and Year 11.

Summer Concert

As part of Cams Hill School’s 70th birthday celebrations, we were delighted to host a special concert featuring performances from current and former pupils, alongside a few familiar faces from the Music Department over the years.

Held in the early evening sunshine, it was a wonderful occasion that brought together generations of the Cams Hill School community. The programme showcased an impressive range of talent, with fantastic performances throughout the evening and a great atmosphere from start to finish. It was a fitting way to mark 70 years of Cams Hill School, celebrating not only our history but also the creativity and musical excellence that continue to thrive today.

Well done to everyone who performed and helped backstage to make the evening such a memorable occasion.

170 Pupils, One Brilliant Afternoon

On Monday afternoon, around 170 pupils enjoyed some well-earned time off timetable as a reward for making it through the school year without gaining a single behaviour point, making the most of the sunshine with friends – and pizza! The field was full of laughter as football matches sprang up, conversations flowed, and everyone relaxed together.

The pizza was a huge hit, with 40 large Dominos pizzas disappearing in no time! A fantastic afternoon of fun in the sun, good food, great company, and memories made to round off the day.

Careers Fair

On Tuesday all pupils attended our first ever Careers Fair. 35 employers, colleges and apprenticeship providers gave their time to attend and provided our pupils with a wealth of knowledge on a large variety of career pathways and next steps post-16. The feedback from pupils was extremely positive and we are looking forward to running the event again next summer.

Year 10 Geography Fieldwork at Hill Head

The 3rd and 4th groups of geographers went out to collect their coastal data this week and that wraps up the fieldwork for this academic year. The measurements our pupils collected during this curriculum linked fieldwork will go directly towards Paper 3 of their Geography GCSE, so the pupils put their best feet forward. In the glorious weather we had, they worked hard to get accurate readings to prove the presence of long-shore drift.

Soul Band at Baycroft School

The Soul Band played their final performance of the year at Baycroft’s BayFest event. It was a fitting way to bring the year to a close, showcasing all the hard work and dedication the band has put in throughout the year. This was the last performance with some longstanding members who have been committed to the band for up to three years. We thank them for sharing their talents with us and wish them all the very best in the future.

Celebratory Lunch

Some of our top-earning achievement point pupils enjoyed a special celebratory lunch today at a café  in Fareham town centre along with Mr Hudson (Headteacher) and other staff to recognise their hard work and dedication throughout the year. Pupils also received their Gold or Platinum Awards, marking an outstanding level of achievement.

Sports Results

Year 7 B Team

Year 8 B Team

This week we had the pleasure of hosting the Year 7 and Year 8 B Team Football Tournaments, and I am delighted to share that it was a hugely successful afternoon for Cams Hill School.

Every one of our pupils represented the school with outstanding unity, enthusiasm and respect. Their teamwork, resilience and positive attitude were evident throughout the tournament, and they were a credit to both themselves and the school.

Both our Year 7 and Year 8 teams were crowned tournament champions, an excellent achievement and a reflection of the commitment and hard work they have shown all year at football club.

Congratulations to all who took part.
