Weekly Message 307 – 26 June 2026
26th June 2026
As we come to the end of what has been an exceptionally hot week, we would like to thank all our pupils, parents, carers and staff for the way everyone has worked together.
Despite the high temperatures, it has been great to see pupils being able to continue to engage so positively in school, and we are grateful for the support from families as we responded to the weather. The adjustments we made helped us to keep the school day running smoothly while making sure pupils remained as comfortable as possible, we even had a few pupils ask if they could camp out in school overnight because our cooling system was far more comfortable than home!
With temperatures expected to return to more typical levels next week, we would like to remind families that from Monday 29 June, pupils should return to wearing full school uniform. PE uniform should only be worn on timetabled PE days. Blazers will continue to be optional; however, all other aspects of our Uniform Policy remain unchanged.
There is also plenty to look forward to next week, with two highlights in the school calendar. Sports Day is always a fantastic occasion, bringing the whole school together in the spirit of friendly competition and teamwork. We also look forward to welcoming our Year 11 pupils back for the Prom, which will be an enjoyable and memorable evening for everyone involved.
International Refugee Week

Last week was International Refugee Week, a celebration of the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees, culminating in World Refugee Day on 20 June. This year’s theme was Courage, one of our values here at Cams Hill.
During tutor time, pupils explored what it means to be a refugee, considering the circumstances people may be forced to flee from and the many challenges they face. They reflected on the extraordinary courage required to leave home and rebuild a life in a new country. Pupils also learned about refugees who have made significant contributions to society, including singer Rita Ora and footballer Victor Moses, as well as others whose stories are less well known but equally inspiring.
In addition to tutor activities, the library has curated a wonderful display of books exploring refugee experiences, and pupils have been invited to take part in an art competition, offering a creative opportunity to reflect on and express the theme of courage.
Pride Month – Week 4
We are making our mark as Pride Month comes to a colourful close! 🌈 The Alphabet Association has designed and started to paint the way with a fantastic mural celebrating diversity and equality, and now it’s time for everyone to lend a hand—literally!
All pupils and staff will have the chance to create and paint a handprint that represents who they are, helping us show that every colour, every hand, and every person belongs.
Bird Box Carpentry Project

From April to May Half term, Max in Year 7 has been working with the Site Team on a carpentry project at Cams Hill school. Max is shown above with his very proud dad and with Cams Hill School’s wonderful Site Team. If you look closely in the background, up high fixed on the tree is a bird box. We look forward to seeing birds in their new home. Well done to Max and to the Site Team.
Art Mural

Wow … just wow! We were absolutely blown away by the incredible standard of design entries we have received for our latest art mural. To celebrate World Art Day, we tasked pupils in KS3 to show our community how art shapes the way we think, solve problems, and dream big. The design brief needed to capture the magic of art and its ability to support creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork, and self-expression.
Our pupils truly outdid themselves with stunning, vibrant, and deeply creative concepts. From brilliant colours to important messages about teamwork, imagination, and individuality, they didn’t just meet the brief, they completely smashed it!
The decision making was very difficult but, with the help of various members of the school community and after carefully reviewing all the designs, we selected five designs to work with. Every one of these entries has brought something unique to the table, and we are so proud of the immense talent in our department.
Katelyn J (Year 9) Gracie R (Year 9) Isla J (Year 8) Grace H (Year 7) and Aradhya P (Year 7) spent the day on Friday to work with our very own Mrs Farmer to bring their designs to life.
Red Barn Art Workshop

As part of her Arts Award programme, Maddie visited Red Barn Primary this week to lead a mosaic workshop with Year 6 pupils. She was a fantastic teacher, and the children had lots of fun creating their own mosaic tiles. It was wonderful to see their creativity shine through as they got stuck in!
