19th September 2025

As we head into the second week of the Autumn Term, it has been fantastic to see pupils continuing to promote, follow, and embrace our school values in and out of the classroom. We would like to thank all pupils, parents, and carers for their continued patience and support as we complete the IT migration and transition to Arbor. The Headteacher has written separately with an update on this.

Our Year 7 pupils are beginning to find their feet, learning to navigate the school site and their new timetables, with Year 8 just ahead of them providing excellent role models. Year 11 have hit the ground running as they approach the final stretch before their exams, and Year 10 are enjoying their Key Stage 4 subject choices alongside the core curriculum. Looking ahead, Year 9 will soon begin to consider their own options as they prepare to take the next steps in their school journey.

We remind parents and carers that should they need to contact the school that our contact details can be found on our website.

Year 10 Power to Progress Evening

Tuesday saw the first of our ‘Power to Progress’ Evenings for parents/carers.  The evening provided parents/carers with the tools, insights, and information to best support their child’s academic progress and wellbeing.

During the evening parents/carers had the opportunity to hear from school leaders, engage with core subject leads, meet with their child’s tutor, and access wellbeing and SEND support.

Portsmouth College was also represented, answering queries on next steps after leaving school.

Opening of Fareham Pantry

We are proud to share the exciting news that Fareham Pantry, a community initiative supported by Gateway Central Services and Cams Hill School, has officially opened in Unit 28, Fareham Shopping Centre.

The pantry launched on Monday, 15 September, and has already received an overwhelmingly positive response from the local community. Led by Holly Bramble, the pantry offers a warm and inclusive space where, for just £6 a week, residents can choose 12 grocery items.

More than just a food resource, Fareham Pantry is a welcoming hub for connection and support. Some visitors have simply dropped by for a friendly chat or a cup of tea, reflecting the strong sense of community the pantry aims to build.

Mr Hudson (Headteacher), attended the launch alongside Holly Bramble to show our school’s support for this meaningful initiative.

Opening Hours:

  • Monday and Friday: 0900 – 1200
  • Wednesday: 1500 – 1800

We are excited to be part of this new venture, which is already making a positive impact, and we are proud to be supporting our wider community with The Gateway Trust.

Reporting Absences

Informing the school of a child’s absence is a key responsibility of parents and carers. As a vital part of safeguarding procedures prompt communication helps us ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pupils.

Please ensure that all absences are reported by 0830 each day your child is away. If we do not receive this information, the absence will be recorded as unauthorised.

Where possible, please provide advance notice of any planned absence (e.g. hospital appointments) using the Arbor Parent Portal app.

Using the Parent Portal/App

  1. Log in: Open the Arbor Parent App.
  2. Select your child: Choose the pupil you wish to record the absence for.
  3. Go to Absences: In your child’s profile, select the Absences section from the left-hand menu.
  4. Record Planned Absence: Click the Record Planned Absence
  5. Enter details: Add the start and end dates of the absence.
  6. Select reason: Choose the option (e.g. illness, appointment) and add any extra details.
  7. Submit: Click the button to officially record the absence.

By working together, we can help pupils reach their full potential. If you would like support with your child’s attendance or well-being, please do not hesitate to contact their Tutor, Head of Year, or Assistant Head of Year.

Homework Club

We would like to invite all pupils to attend Homework Club, starting on Wednesday 24 September, after school from 1500 to 1600.

Held weekly in ICT2 and the Atrium, Homework Club provides a productive and supportive environment where pupils can complete their work. Teaching and support staff will be available to offer guidance and encouragement, helping all pupils make good progress in their learning.

We look forward to welcoming pupils next Wednesday.
