Year 9 Buddies help the new Year 7 intake to settle into the school, allowing the Year 7 pupils to get to know some of the older pupils and to ask questions about the school.
Year 9 Buddies operate ‘alongside’ the Year 7s. They play a role similar to that of an older sister/brother/cousin. Buddies go into their allocated Year 7 tutor group during the week, supporting both the tutor and pupils.
There are two Year 9 Buddies attached to each Year 7 tutor group. Year 9 Buddies are provided with an early leadership opportunity in which they can develop their skills. Some of these may then go on to use these skills in further leadership roles in Year 10 and Year 11.
Prospective buddies apply in writing to the Year 7 team to express their interest and, if shortlisted, they will then be interviewed.
