Weekly Message 292 – 6 February 2026
6th February 2026
This week has been a true celebration of courage, commitment, and community, as our pupils and staff delivered the most brilliant performances of Billy Elliot. After weeks of hard work, dedication, and perseverance, the production was a huge success, and we could not be prouder of everyone involved.
On Friday we invited pupils to wear non-school uniform in support of two charities the school supports – Sophie’s Legacy and African Adventures. We welcome financial charitable contributions, and this can be done on Arbor and we are grateful to our community your support.
‘Arbor’ – ‘School shop’ – ‘Non uniform day contribution’
We would also like to remind parents and carers of Year 11 pupils that the Pupil Progress Evening is taking place on Tuesday 10 February 2026. This is a valuable opportunity to meet with your child’s subject teachers, especially with Spring exams fast approaching, to discuss how you can support your child’s preparation at home and how they can make the very best use of the time they have left in school and the subject specialists in the classroom.
As we head towards the half-term break, we would like to remind parents and carers to ensure children continue to wear the correct school uniform each day. We have recently noticed that some pupils are wearing incorrect footwear when they come to school in PE kit ready for PE, and we kindly ask for your support in making sure the correct kit is worn as per the school’s uniform policy.
Thank you, as always, for your continued cooperation and support.
We remind pupils, parents and carers that the school is closed to pupils on Friday 13 February as it is an INSET Day.
School Production – Billy Elliot

In 1984, while the miners’ strike rages, Billy Elliot is a young boy living in a small County Durham town, who discovers he has a talent for ballet, much to the upset of his widowed father Jackie, leaving him torn between his dreams and the only life he’s ever known.
It is fair to say that the school production is a huge community event each year. The production team, alongside teachers, work together to give the pupils this valuable experience. Each time, we challenge ourselves a little more with the scale of the production and this year is no exception with the famous ‘Billy Elliot’ which is possibly the grittiest musical we have put on to date. Ballet hasn’t come naturally to some of our pupils, but the work they have put in to get the performance to an excellent standard has been faultless. After a heated discussion regarding the definition of ‘solidarity’, this musical experience has certainly exposed our pupils to a range of life’s challenges.
The young people in the production have their own commitments and challenges outside of the school production but never failed to turn up each week and work together as part of this wonderful show family. We hope our pupils continue to ‘express themselves’ long beyond their journey at Cams Hill School.
A huge congratulations for everyone involved. We are incredibly proud of you all.
Careers – New Library Display

There are a variety of different options pupils can consider studying post-16. Making the decision about which to choose can sometimes be a daunting and confusing experience. Miss Vadis (Careers Coordinator) has created a new display in the library to highlight all post-16 pathways. Our website has further information Post-16 Options – Cams Hill School | State Comprehensive Secondary School in Fareham.
National Apprenticeship Week
Next week is National Apprenticeship week and pupils will be watching a video in tutor time to give them information about this post-16 pathway. There are many myths about apprenticeships, therefore, we have created a PDF to give pupils and parents/carers up to date information. If you have any questions about this pathway or would like further information, please email careers@camshill.com.
Walk Wheel Cycle Trust
The Walk Wheel Trust will be visiting school again on 23 February 2026 delivering bicycle maintenance and engineering sessions.
