Weekly Message 277 – 3 October 2025
3rd October 2025
We have now concluded Week 4, and it has been fantastic to see pupils working hard and showing real focus across the school. Whether it is in the classroom, on the field, or around the corridors, there is a real sense of purpose, positivity, and pride.
Across the school, we have seen pupils demonstrating our core values:
- Courage – stepping up to challenges, asking questions, and trying new things.
- Courtesy – showing kindness, respect, and looking out for one another.
- Commitment – staying focused, organised, and giving their best every day.
A special mention to Year 11, who are building real momentum this term. We look forward to seeing pupils and families at the online Pupil Progress Evening taking place next Tuesday 7 October 2025 where we will be sharing practical strategies and support to help every pupil make the most of the final months ahead.
Soul Band at Wicor Hog ‘n’ Hop
Last Friday, Soul Band performed at Wicor Primary School’s annual Hog ‘n’ Hop event. The event was sold out, which meant the Soul Band had a huge audience to entertain. The band sounded amazing as always. What a fantastic group of young musicians.
Art Club’s Autumn Scarecrows
Art Club has been busily and enthusiastically crafting away in the Art Department this term creating some seasonal makes. Our Autumn themed craft has been creating our own dungaree wearing scarecrows out of old denim trousers and small scraps of fabric. Each week the pupils have tested their skills with tracing clothes patterns, cutting fabric and sewing.
Next week we will be starting our Halloween crafts, by creating papier mâché pumpkins. It may get a little messy…
Art Club is on Wednesdays from 1500 to 1545 in Art2 with Ms Hutchings the Art Technician.
Art Department Competition
During the Summer break our Class of 2030 were invited to take part in an Art Department competition where they were asked to describe, through a piece of artwork, what they were most looking forward to when they start in Year 7 at Cams Hill School.
We had lots of fantastic entries, and all received a Cams Creative badge to wear on blazers.
Huge well done to the four winners E Juniper, S Lee, L Rayner and M Rohansten who won an Art goody bag for their fantastic entries (pictured).
Open Evening
On Tuesday evening we opened our doors to welcome prospective families into our fantastic school for our annual Open Evening.
As a community of pupils, staff, and governors we are very proud of our school and value the opportunity to share this with others. We had over 250 pupils volunteering their free time to meet and greet, show our visitors around the site, and share their experiences and reflections as members of the school community. The pupils are truly outstanding ambassadors; it is humbling to listen to them speak so fondly about the school and their teachers, and they never fail to impress both visitors and staff alike.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who was involved in making the evening as special as it was and to everyone who was able to come along and visit us. Please visit our Facebook page where you will find some photos that capture the atmosphere of the evening.

MathsWatch and Educake
These are two online resources that we expect pupils to be accessing routinely with homework set by teachers and independently to support their progress in Maths, Science, and other subjects. We ask parents/carers to check in with their child to see whether they are accessing these resources routinely and to encourage the best use of them.
If there are issues with access, please bring this to the school’s attention as soon as possible so that we can help.
