Weekly Message 273 – 18 July 2025
18th July 2025
Celebration Day
This is our last weekly message of this academic year, and this final full week of term has been all about celebration – celebrating our school community and everything we stand for.
On Wednesday, all pupils enjoyed a day off-timetable for our Celebration Day, as we took a moment to step back to take part in a wide variety of fun and engaging activities and enjoy the company of others.
Our celebration assemblies, led by year teams, gave us the opportunity to look back on the year to recognise not just achievements, but also the personal growth, effort and character shown by pupils every day. We also welcomed parents and carers into school for Awards Evenings to mark individual success.
We are incredibly grateful to our staff for routinely going above and beyond, and to our fabulous pupils striving to be the best they can be. Moving into next year, we continue to focus on high quality teaching and learning, high level of pupil participation and working in a community where we show courtesy, courage and commitment.
We would like to thank parents and carers for your ongoing support, and we wish everyone a restful and enjoyable summer break.
The school will close to pupils at 1230 on Tuesday 22 July 2025.

Soul Band Performing at Fareham Big Event
On Sunday 13 July, the Cams Hill Soul Band performed at Fareham bandstand as part of the Fareham Big Weekend event. This took place in collaboration with Fareham College, who provided the sound and mixing for the day. The band sounded great as always, and we received compliments from the public who stopped by to watch them perform.
Soul Band Performing at Bayfest
On Thursday 17 July Soul Band played their last gig of the summer, appearing at BayFest at Baycroft School. This was their sixth gig in two weeks, so the band are well practised at playing consistently high-quality set of soul and modern classics. We thank the band members for their hard work and dedication to the group over this year.
“Get on Your Bike” with Attendance Streaks
This week, we have been celebrating some fantastic achievements in whole-school attendance and we have completed the live draw for our Attendance Streaks Initiative that began back in December.
Attendance to school this year has been really positive:
- Overall attendance: 93.3%, compared to the national average of 91.3% – a great result!
- Year 7 led the way with 94.6%.
- 73 pupils achieved 100% attendance – an impressive commitment!
Since December, pupils have been earning entries into the prize draw. The more consistent the attendance, the more chances to win. We will be running this again next year on a termly basis, alongside our “12 Days of Christmas” and “Eggcellent Easter Attendance” incentives. We would like to congratulate the following pupils, whose names were randomly drawn from hundreds of entries to win some fantastic prizes:
L Clark, T Ives, E Bingham-Gardiner, J Bunker, I Hazzard, I Amaan, A Hewitt, A Larmour, E Moulson, S Grady, E Barron. Prizes included:
- A gaming chair
- A year’s membership to Fareham Leisure Centre
- A Nintendo Switch and games
- Headphones and a Bluetooth speaker
- A Kindle Fire
- Various vouchers
And of course, the big prize, a brand-new bike, generously provided by Solent Cycles and proudly awarded to C Mander in Year 9.
We are already looking forward to running the initiative again next year, with more prizes and another bike up for grabs.
Celebration Day
On Wednesday, Cams Hill School held its first Celebration Day to reward our school community for their hard work and success this year. We were graced with brilliant blue skies and beautiful sunshine to enjoy open mic from our Music Department, an array of games, inflatables and football tournaments run by our PE team. A special thank you to Mr Underwood and Miss Underwood, who created the most amazing carnival games for our pupils to enjoy and win prizes from our very own Cams Hill Shop. Also, a big thank you to those members of staff who volunteered (absolutely zero coercion from anyone … honestly) for Sponge-a-Teacher! Finally, thank you to all our parents and carers who supported the day with a donation for non-school uniform – we are very grateful for your help in making the day so special for our whole community. It was a glorious way to mark the end of a fantastic year.

MathsWatch and Educake
These are two online resources that we expect pupils to be accessing routinely with homework set by teachers and independently to support their progress in Maths, Science, and other subjects. We ask parents/carers to check in with their child to see whether they are accessing these resources routinely and to encourage the best use of them.
If there are issues with access, please bring this to the school’s attention as soon as possible so that we can help.
