Weekly Message 269 – 20 June 2025
20th June 2025
As we reach the end of another successful week at Cams Hill School, we would like to extend our thanks to parents and carers for your continued support. A special mention goes to our Year 11 pupils, who have now completed all their exams – a significant milestone marking the end of an important chapter. We now look ahead with excitement to the Year 11 Prom, which promises to be a fantastic evening of celebration, marking five memorable years at Cams Hill School.
As we say goodbye to one year group, we look forward to welcoming another. We are busy preparing for and delivering our Year 6/new Year 7 induction days. It is an important time as we help our new pupils settle in and get ready for the start of their journey at Cams Hill School. We look forward to meeting them and their families very soon.
A polite reminder for parents and carers – please do not park in the bus bay on the A27 for either drop off or pick up at the end of the school day as this obstructs buses and places our pupils at risk. Thank you for your support in keeping all our pupils safe.

Year books are currently being printed and will be available to collect on results day. If you still wish to order one, please contact the finance department who will add you to the wait list and once 10 additional books have been requested, we will get in touch with you with details on payment.
Year 7 Multi Faith Visitor Panel
This morning, we had the privilege of hosting speakers from different faiths and world views to answer questions from our Year 7 pupils who are currently studying a unit of work in RS entitled ‘Why are there so many names for God?’
The speakers represented Christianity, Hinduism, Humanism, Islam and Sikhism and the Year 7 pupils posed fascinating questions including:
‘Have you ever had a spiritual experience?’ Have you ever doubted God?’ ‘If your religion/world view was an animal, what would it be and why?’ and ‘If God exists, why is there so much suffering in the world?’
It was a very interesting morning, and our Year 7 pupils listened with interest and respect throughout.
Pride Month Week 3
Week 3 of Pride Month activities have had our pupils guessing how many skittles are in the jar.
Putting sweets in the jar is not a widespread tradition but does have a symbolic meaning and interpretation.
The sweets hidden in the jar can represent how LGBTQ+ identities are often hidden due to fear, shame, or social pressure.
Opening the jar and sharing the sweets symbolise pride, openness, and celebration of identity.
We hope as a school community this will spark curiosity and conversation, which can be a great way to engage people around Pride Month themes of inclusion, identity, and celebration.
And not to forget, Alphabet Association involved the staff with their own ‘guess the number of sweets’ too.
Year 7 Mary Rose Workshops
Last week Year 7 pupils were lucky to experience a visit from the Mary Rose Museum. During the visit the guest speakers delivered interactive workshops on life on board the Mary Rose with a focus on Tudor surgery.
The pupils managed to get to play the role of the Tudor surgeon, while getting their hands on some replica surgeon tools. Pupils were shocked (to the point of audible gasps) to learn just how basic surgery was during the Tudor period.

Football
On Tuesday, the Years 7/8 girls’ football team took on Brookfield School in their cup final. The girls saw most of the ball in the game and created endless opportunities, hitting the woodwork four times. The girls took the lead but then Brookfield School managed to pull one back. The girls fought hard but couldn’t find that winning goal and the game went to penalties. Unfortunately, we were unable to win the shootout and finished second in the cup after a tremendous season which saw us go unbeaten in normal time.
On Wednesday, the Year 9 boys also went up against Brookfield School in their cup final. The boys were superb, pressured Brookfield School the whole game and showed real maturity and teamwork throughout. We went 1-0 up, after a fantastic flowing counterattack. The team continued to show their class, and they were able to add a second goal and secured the Year 9 Gosport and Fareham District Trophy.
Also on Wednesday, our senior girls took on Henry Cort in their cup final. The girls worked fantastically throughout the match and showed real class in their performance. However, they were beaten on the day but show real promise for the next academic year.
A huge achievement all round and the pupils should be very proud, as are we, with what they have achieved.
Year 7 Athletics
Yesterday we took 28 Year 7 pupils to the Mountbatten Centre to compete in a range of track and field events – they absolutely smashed it! Both boys and girls won Gold. The girls came first with over 40 points and the boys came first by 20. Really well done to all involved.
As a result of their amazing performance, we will have at least 16 pupils representing the district in the County Final taking place on the 8 July!

MathsWatch and Educake
These are two online resources that we expect pupils to be accessing routinely with homework set by teachers and independently to support their progress in Maths, Science, and other subjects. We ask parents/carers to check in with their child to see whether they are accessing these resources routinely and to encourage the best use of them.
If there are issues with access, please bring this to the school’s attention as soon as possible so that we can help.
