Weekly Message 266 – 23 May 2025
23rd May 2025
As we reach the end of the first half of the Summer term, we reflect with pride on the achievements of our pupils, shaped by our core values: Courtesy, Courage, and Commitment.
Pupils have demonstrated kindness, respect, and inclusivity, with many earning Headteacher’s Gold and even Platinum Awards for positive behaviour. We are also grateful for the continual generosity of our families; we look forward to this continuing in support of our new food pantry which is opening in Fareham Shopping Centre next half term with the support of Gateway Central Services.
Courage has been evident in the classroom, through exams, and on trips such as the Year 9 visit to Normandy and Duke of Edinburgh expeditions. Year 11 pupils are showing great resilience during their exams, and we wish them continued success. Commitment to learning is clear in strong homework completion, improved assessments, and engagement in revision and careers events. Our younger pupils have also impressed in the Maths Challenge.
After half term, we will continue to uphold our high expectations with uniform, punctuality, and engagement to ensure a positive learning environment for all. In the meantime, we wish our pupils and families an enjoyable half-term break. We welcome pupils back into school on Monday 2 June 2025.
Timetables for Pupils in Years 7-10
Please can you ask your child to check their timetable on ClassCharts on Sunday 1 June 2025 as there have been some small changes to the school timetable.
Year 10 Exams Preparation Evening
This week we held a Year 10 Internal Exam Preparation Evening for parents and carers ahead of the upcoming exam series and it was wonderful that so many were able to join us.
We discussed the purpose of the exam series and focussed on how best to effectively prepare. Revision should fulfil one of three purposes: to identify gaps in learning, build existing knowledge or to strengthen connections between areas of knowledge. We concluded the evening by sharing 5 practical revision strategies and applications that could be used by pupils to maximise progress. Year 10 parents and carers will be emailed a copy of the presentation to refer to if they wish.
Young Carers and Year 7 Nurture Group Trip to Paultons Park
On Wednesday our Young Carers and Year 7 Nurture Group had an action-packed day at Paultons Park.
It was a wonderful opportunity to spend the day outside in the fresh air and experience the thrill of roller coasters and other ‘extreme’ rides – the Storm Chaser proved to be very popular as was the flight of the Pterosaur. ‘It was wicked’ and ‘I wish I could go on it 50 million times’ were just some of the pupils’ feedback post extreme ride.
Animal Kingdom and Peppa Pig World (pupils were pleased to meet Evie, the new addition to the family!) were also much visited areas of the park. The pink flamingos and the parrots were also a hit with the pupils as were the ducks who joined us for lunch!
Although the weather was inclement, it didn’t dampen spirits, and a good time was had by all. It was an absolute pleasure to spend the day with such a wonderful group of young people and uplifting to witness some real acts of kindness and new friendships forming.
National Numeracy Day
Wednesday saw the annual National Numeracy Day and to celebrate the day, pupils got involved with a tutor time numeracy quiz which included some numeracy problems, some money skills-based questions (the theme for this year was Money Matters) and they also had some tricky Maths word DingBats to solve.
Prizes will be going to the best tutor group score in each year group.
Year 10 – Ready for Work Feedback
Year 10 pupils should have now received their Ready for Work feedback via their school email. The feedback was collected from our employers during Future Skills Day and our Work Experience survey. We received so many positive comments from these activities and hope the pupils find the feedback insightful. Any pupil without feedback, who was unable to complete a mock interview during Future Skills Day, can request one through their tutor or by emailing careers@camshill.com.

MathsWatch and Educake
These are two online resources that we expect pupils to be accessing routinely with homework set by teachers and independently to support their progress in Maths, Science, and other subjects. We ask parents/carers to check in with their child to see whether they are accessing these resources routinely and to encourage the best use of them.
If there are issues with access, please bring this to the school’s attention as soon as possible so that we can help.
