Weekly Message 265 – 16 May 2025
16th May 2025
Thank you to all parents and carers that were able to join us for the Year 8 Parents’ Subject Evening on Tuesday. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to meet with our staff and discuss your child’s progress.
If you have any follow-up questions or need further information, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. Thank you once again for your continued support.
On Wednesday 21 May 2025, we invite parents and carers of Year 10 pupils into school for the Year 10 Internal Exam Parent Preparation Evening taking place from 1800 – 1900. Specific details have been sent to parents/carers in a letter dated 7 May 2025.
We remind parents and carers that the school closes for the half-term break on Friday 23 May 2025 and reopens to pupils on Monday 2 June 2025 Week A.
Aerosols not Permitted in School
Please can we remind parents, carers and pupils that aerosols are a banned item as per the school’s Good Behaviour Policy page 11. Pupils may carry roll on deodorant or water-based mist if they wish to do so.
Mental Health Awareness Week
This week we were lucky enough to have assemblies led by the kindness ambassadors who promoted good mental health. Pupils spoken confidently, offering tips and ideas on how to look after the health of our minds – they were amazing! In addition, there were tutor led activities to nurture conversations about the importance of having good mental health and what to do when it’s not so good.
As parents and carers, it can be hard to know how to support our children’s wellbeing, so here are some resources that might help you navigate some conversations.

City of Portsmouth College Assembly
City of Portsmouth College held an assembly for Year 10 pupils on Thursday to provide them with further information about their upcoming Taster Day on Tuesday 1 July. Pupils were given an insight into the diverse range of taster sessions on offer across the three campuses. Parents and carers will have received a letter providing full details of the trip and pupils will be able to select their taster session preferences with their tutor in the coming weeks.
Art Club – Eurovision
This week in Art Club we have been getting excited about the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest by creating some outlandish and extravagant outfits and costumes, fit for any European (or Australian…) entrant to wear on stage.
Ms Hutchings had scoured every charity shop in Fareham to find our models (Barbie and Sindy dolls) to dress and by the end of the session we had a dozen fantastically adorned contestants, ready for stage! There were belts made of necklace gems, earrings made from beads, high heels made from ribbon and matchsticks, capes made from net curtains, giant bows on velvet ball gowns and a beard made from fur.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, so we will continue the costume designing next week in Art Club. If there is anyone who has some unwanted fashion dolls they no longer want, Art Club are grateful for any donations.
Forest School
This week pupils who attend Forest School enjoyed our nature-inspired sessions. Pupils loved discovering the wildlife that inhabits our area; butterflies, ladybirds, newts and frogs to name a few. There are numerous benefits of Forest School for teens, including increased confidence, social skills, and a stronger connection to nature.

MathsWatch and Educake
These are two online resources that we expect pupils to be accessing routinely with homework set by teachers and independently to support their progress in Maths, Science, and other subjects. We ask parents/carers to check in with their child to see whether they are accessing these resources routinely and to encourage the best use of them.
If there are issues with access, please bring this to the school’s attention as soon as possible so that we can help.
