This week we have been focusing on the determination of our new Senior Pupil Leadership Team and Head Prefects.
The Year 10 pupils who have put themselves forward for these roles have each recorded a video for the school community to watch to help them to make an informed choice during the round of voting. In their videos, pupils have shared how they would support and promote pupil voice and pupils’ contribution to improvement planning and how they would set up and run a Senior Pupil Leadership Legacy. This could include holding an event, raising money for charity or working in the local community.
Among a long list of responsibilities, the Head Prefects will lead the Senior Pupil Leadership Team including the Senior Prefects (Year 10), Buddies in Year 9 and Transition Mentors in Year 8. They will meet with the Senior Leadership Team to discuss wider school issues and initiatives and will feedback to School Council where appropriate.
All pupils have been given the opportunity to watch each of the applicants’ video recordings and vote. Short listing will take place on Monday 28 June 2021 with formal interviews to follow soon thereafter. The final decision will be made by the end of next week.
We thank all involved for their enthusiasm and commitment.
Fixtures
It has been amazing to have after school fixtures available to our pupils. Over the last couple of weeks, we have participated in rounders, football and netball tournaments. Our Year 7 netball team won their tournament, Year 8 boys finished 4th in the football and Year 7 finished 2nd in rounders.
Well done to all Year 7 and 8 pupils who attended Athletics trials after school this week. Emails have been sent out to all those pupils who have made it through to the Fareham and Gosport District Trials taking place next week. Good luck to all.
