Weekly Message 305 – 12 June 2026
12th June 2026
It has been another busy and productive week in school, and we are pleased to say that our Year 11pupils are now nearing the end of their examination period. They have shown real resilience, determination and maturity over the past few weeks, and we are incredibly proud of the way they have approached this important stage of their education. With just a small number of exams remaining, the finish line is now very much in sight.
Looking ahead to next week, examinations will continue for those pupils who still have papers to complete. Please note that Tuesday 16 June is an INSET Day, and the school will be closed to pupils. We also look forward to welcoming Year 10 parents and carers to the Parental Pathways Evening on Thursday 18 June from 6.00pm–7.00pm, as outlined in the letter sent on 15 May. This event will provide valuable information and guidance as pupils look ahead to the opportunities available to them moving forward.
DoE Silver Purbeck Expedition

Last weekend, twenty Year 10 pupils successfully completed their Duke of Edinburgh’s Silver Award expedition in the Purbeck area. Despite a little rain on Saturday, pupils thoroughly enjoyed camping, cooking, and working together in their teams throughout the weekend. They demonstrated outstanding resilience, problem-solving, and communication skills, rising to every challenge along the way. Congratulations to all involved on this fantastic achievement!
Pride Month – Second Week
As we head into the second week of Pride Month, our school community is celebrating the power of authenticity, acceptance, and diversity.
To bring these values to life, we are asking all pupils in their tutor groups to design a custom handprint that creatively describes who they are.
Your handprint is a literal and visual way to “give Pride a big hand,” while making sure your unique voice is heard.
In a world where hiding your true colours is so last season, this project stands as a colourful reminder that our school is a safe, supportive space for everyone to be exactly who they are.
Visit from ‘Shut It Down’
On Thursday, Amy Ringrose and Joe Burkmar founders of ‘Shut It Down’ came in to launch two amazing projects to our Year 8 and Year 9 pupils.
The launch of The Good Men Project explored the idea of what it really means to be masculine and had our boys thinking about what makes a ‘good man’ all with the aim of changing the narrative and challenging the labels given to them by social media and society.
Furthermore, the first Empowered Girls session looked at supporting young women in the modern world; the session reinforced the key message that girls deserve to feel safe, respected, and valued. This ongoing project is about supporting that message.
Mrs Cother and Mr Williams are very much looking forward to officially launching these projects in September 2026.
Art Club Completes the Piñatas Project

Art Club has been working hard on their latest modelling project, which is designing and making their own piñatas.
Each pupil carefully thought about a design they wanted to create, then used cardboard and masking tape to bring their designs into a three-dimensional form. From there, they used copious amounts of bright crepe paper to carefully cut or concertina the paper to decorate. It was a simple but thoroughly enjoyable project which created a colourful amount of mess.
Those who have already taken their piñatas home have been given a handful of sweets and confetti to fill them.
Ms Hutchings would like to thank each pupil for giving her the opportunity to share the privilege of making a staggering amount of mess in their own homes when they come to be broken open!”
