20th March 2026

It has been another positive and purposeful week in school. Thank you to all pupils, parents and carers who attended the Year 9 Options Evening on Tuesday. We hope you found the evening informative and reassuring as pupils make their Key Stage 4 choices. The opportunity to hear about the options process, key deadlines and to attend taster sessions in subjects not previously studied will, we hope, support pupils in making confident and well-informed decisions about their next steps.

As we approach the end of term, please take note of the following important dates. Friday 27 March is the last day of term; pupils are invited to take part in a non-school uniform day as per the letter dated 18 March 2026, and school will close to pupils at the usual time.

Following the Easter holiday, Monday 13 April 2026 is an INSET day, so the school will be closed to pupils, with the Summer Term beginning on Tuesday 14 April 2026.

Year 10 pupils will begin their examinations on Tuesday 14 April 2026 and they will continue until Friday 24 April 2026, an important opportunity to inform pupils and teachers about progress to date and to prepare for next year. Finally, we look forward to welcoming Year 7 parents and carers to the Pupil Progress Evening on Tuesday 28 April 2026, where you will have the chance to discuss your child’s progress and next steps – further details to follow soon.

Options Evening

Options Evening was a fantastic success, with a calm, purposeful atmosphere throughout. It was brilliant to see so many of our Year 9 pupils demonstrating our values of Courage, Commitment and Courtesy as they spoke confidently with staff, asked thoughtful questions, and began considering their future direction.

The opportunity to hear about the options process, key deadlines and to attend taster sessions in subjects not previously studied will support pupils in making confident and well-informed decisions about their next steps.

Thank you to all parents and carers who attended and supported their child at this important stage, your involvement truly makes a difference. We are incredibly proud of the maturity and positivity shown by the entire year group.

Jazz Café

Yesterday we held our annual Jazz Café event and this year, at the Waypoint Church in Titchfield. It is a fantastic venue which provided pupils with an opportunity to perform on a large stage, with excellent sound and lighting facilities. The auditorium also accommodated our traditional casual seating with audience members enjoying food and drink throughout the evening. The evening included performances of jazz and soul inspired pieces and arrangements.

The solo performers including H Kempster, A Cupid, R Brogan, S Wright and M Brace in Y11, B Withers and I Vassallo in Y9 and L Harbon in Y8, were accompanied by our ‘pit band’ made up of pupils and staff as we continue to ensure that all the music heard was performed live.

The standard of the performers was incredibly high, and we are grateful to them for all their hard work preparing for the evening. Our thanks also go to all the staff working behind the scenes to make the evening such a huge success.  It really was an evening to be remembered.

School Council

During this week’s School Council meeting, pupils took part in an “Ask Me Anything” session with our Headteacher, Mr Hudson. Representatives from across the school brought a range of thoughtful, challenging and, at times, humorous questions. As a result, we have identified several areas that we will be taking forward for action.

We are so proud of the confidence, maturity and high-quality speaking skills demonstrated by our pupils. We are also very grateful for their enthusiasm and willingness to play an active role as valued members of our school community.

Informal Coffee and Catch-Up Sessions

Parents and carers are in receipt of a letter inviting you into school for an informal coffee and catchup sessions which will take place next term. They provide an opportunity to ask any questions families may have about the school, the curriculum, pastoral support, or anything else related to school life. The times and dates have been shared in the letter dated 19 March 2026 and we very much look forward to welcoming families into school.

Hospitality and Catering – Environmental Health Visit

On Tuesday 17 March, we were delighted to welcome into school Environmental Health Officers from Fareham Borough Council for an engaging and informative visit. This was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to learn more about the important roles and responsibilities involved in maintaining public health and safety.

The presentation captured pupils’ attention with a range of striking (and often quite shocking!) images highlighting unhygienic practices and evidence of rodent activity, helping to bring real-world scenarios to life. Pupils also enjoyed a hands-on experience using UV torches to detect bacteria, giving them a practical insight into how environmental health professionals carry out their work.

Overall, the session offered an excellent learning experience and strongly supported pupils in their exam preparation.
