Weekly Message 294 – 27 February 2026
27th February 2026
As we reach the end of our first week back following the half term break, we would like to thank pupils and staff for their continued focus and enthusiasm and the weather for being a little kinder to us mid-week!
As always, it has been a busy one with pupils taking part in our Walk, Wheel, Cycle Maintenance activity, learning practical skills to keep their bikes safe and roadworthy. Year 9 pupils received their scheduled immunisations, and Year 10 families joined us for the Pupil Progress Evening, which provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on progress so far and how we can all work together over the next part of this school year.
Next week, Year 11 pupils begin their Spring examinations; another important milestone as they prepare for the summer exam season. On Thursday 4 March, we look forward to welcoming families to the Peripatetic Music Consultation Evening, celebrating the musical commitment of our pupils.
Reminder – Year 11 Spring Exams – Monday 2 March 2026 to Friday 13 March 2026
A reminder to all parents/carers and Year 11 pupils that the Spring Examinations will take place from Monday 2 March to Friday 13 March. These exams provide an important opportunity for pupils to gain further practice, insight and feedback in their GCSE subjects ahead of the Summer examinations, which begin on Thursday 7 May 2026.
As with the Autumn examinations, if pupils have two exams in one day, they may use their Period 3 lesson to revise for the afternoon exam. Pupils must come prepared for these sessions. Year 11 pupils are also reminded to wear full uniform (no PE kit to be worn) and come fully equipped for each exam, as we do not have spare equipment available.
Should pupils, parent or carers have any questions please speak to the tutor in the first instance. We wish all Year 11 pupils the very best of luck and every success in their examinations.
Year 10 Work Experience
Work experience runs from Monday 9 March 2026 until Friday 13 March 2026. If last-minute placements are secured, we ask pupils to return their forms as soon as possible. Where pupils are not attending a work experience placement they should attend school, where they will undertake careers-focused learning. All pupils attending school that week should be in full school uniform (no PE kit except for Wednesday 11 March 2026).
Legally Blonde
The Drama department took our wonderful pupils to see ‘Legally Blonde’ at the beautiful Mayflower Theatre, Southampton and it was a fantastic show. From the moment the curtain rose, pupils were captivated and the performance sparked excitement and admiration for live theatre. An added bonus was meeting the dogs from the production afterwards!
It was a memorable experience that will undoubtedly encourage many of our young performers to continue exploring their own talents on stage.
Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week

To mark Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, our Key Stage 3 pupils have created a beautiful display of decorative hearts.
Each heart represents either the pupil themselves or someone special to them. The pupils carefully chose descriptive words to write on their hearts, highlighting positive qualities, strengths, and characteristics that make them or their loved ones unique and valued.
The finished pieces look fabulous and are now proudly displayed in the corridor for everyone to admire. The display is a celebration of self-expression, kindness, and the importance of recognising and supporting mental health.
Well done to all our Key Stage 3 pupils for their thoughtful and creative work!
Art Club Puppets

Art Club has been busy with their extended project this term. They have spent the last six weeks constructing their own hand puppet with foam and have begun to add their fuzzy fabric covering! Currently they are busy sewing up their pattern pieces and getting to grips with the various types of stitches. The puppets are beginning to come together, and their unique personalities are already showing. We will continue this until Easter.
