Kenya Volunteering Trip
We are delighted to welcome all our pupils back after the summer break and what a fantastic start to the new school year it has been!
Our pupils have returned with energy, enthusiasm, and a great attitude. They have settled in brilliantly and are already halfway through their new timetables, getting to know new teachers, forming new friendships, and exploring exciting new subjects.
It has been wonderful to see classrooms buzzing with curiosity and corridors filled with a real sense of purpose. We are incredibly proud of how quickly everyone has adjusted and the positivity they have brought with them.
With such a strong start, it’s shaping up to be a great year for learning and progress.

Tuesday 30 September 2025 – Open Evening for Prospective Parents/Carers
We encourage our pupils, parents, and carers to spread the word among friends and family about our Open Evening taking place on 30 September – a fantastic opportunity to see our school in action and experience the vibrant learning environment we offer!”
Sponsorship Opportunity – Cams Hill School Rugby Kit
We are currently seeking support from local businesses or companies who may be willing to contribute towards the purchase of a new rugby kit for our pupils to wear during after-school fixtures. Our goal is to raise approximately £1,000, and any level of support would be greatly appreciated.
In recognition of any sponsorship, the business’s logo or name would be prominently displayed on the front of all team playing shirts, providing valuable visibility and a strong link with the local community.
If you can help, or would like further information, please contact Mr Arthur at Cams Hill School via office@camshill.com.
Kenya Volunteering Trip – a Life-Changing Experience
Just before the summer break, 48 Year 10 pupils and six staff from Cams Hill School travelled to Nakuru, Kenya, to volunteer in three local schools in partnership with African Adventures.
The 12-day trip involved fundraising over £9,000, which helped install water tanks and electricity in partner schools. Pupils supported Jubilee School, West End Destiny Academy, and The Walk Centre through painting, tiling, fence repairs, and classroom teaching on subjects such as maths, English, hygiene, and dental care.
Each pupil brought a suitcase of donated items including toys, stationery, and toiletries which were distributed to pupils and staff. The team also joined in school life, from football matches to meal service and playtime.
Beyond volunteering, the group explored Kenya’s culture and wildlife with visits to the Giraffe Centre, Elephant Orphanage, and on safari. They also learned Swahili, cooked local dishes, and shared memorable moments like watching the Women’s Euro Final together.
Described as “life-changing,” the trip left a deep impact on all involved. With plans for a return in 2027, Cams Hill School remains committed to its partnership with the Nakuru community.
Activities Week
A delightful week was had welcoming our new intake of Year 7 pupils to this year’s Activities Week. It was a wonderful opportunity for pupils to get to know the layout of the school, meet staff, and begin building friendships while taking part in a wide range of fun activities.
Over the week, pupils enjoyed murder mystery challenges, quizzes, team building, bracelet making, arts and crafts, forest school, gardening, a mobile farm, and an inflatable day. To round things off, everyone enjoyed a barbeque and ice-cream on the final day.
Our new Year 7 pupils threw themselves into every activity, showing courtesy, courage, and a willingness to try new things. We are so proud of the way they embraced the week, and we hope it has given them the confidence to begin their Cams Hill journey with enthusiasm and excitement.
Year 11 Next Steps Evening
On Thursday, Year 11 pupils were invited to attend a Next Steps Evening where local college and apprenticeship providers were available to answer questions about post-16 options. The event was incredibly well attended and we hope this has helped pupils think about the options available to them after Year 11. Prospectuses and literature from providers will be available in the careers office for any pupils who were unable to attend.
College Lunchtime Drop-In – Tuesday 16 September 2025
On Tuesday 16 September, Peter Symonds College will be visiting us over the lunch period. They will be based in the library and will be able to answer pupils’ questions about their provision and what college life is like. If any Year 11 pupils wish to apply to Peter Symonds, this is also a great opportunity to do this with their support.
