Weekly Message 271 – 4 July 2025
4th July 2025
As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding week, we take a moment to reflect on some of the highlights that have brought our school community together.
Last Friday we celebrated our wonderful Year 11 pupils at their Prom, and it was a truly memorable evening. It was a fantastic opportunity to mark the end of their five-year journey with us and to celebrate all they have achieved, both as individuals and as a cohort. We couldn’t be prouder of the young people they have become. We will welcome them back into school on Results Day which takes place on Thursday 21 August 2025.
Also last week a group of our pupils and staff enjoyed an enriching trip to Cornwall organised by the Geography Department, exploring the region’s unique landscapes and deepening their understanding of both physical and human geography. It’s always a pleasure to see learning come to life beyond the classroom, and the pupils represented the school with maturity and enthusiasm throughout.
Back in school this week, we have enjoyed movie afternoons to reward and recognise pupils who have shown great effort, commitment, and positive contributions this year. Celebrating success in this way is just one of the many things we do to foster pride, motivation, and a positive school culture.
As we approach the final weeks of term, we kindly remind all families of the importance of maintaining high standards in both uniform and punctuality. These daily habits not only support a calm and focused learning environment but also reflect our shared commitment to preparing pupils for life beyond school.
Road Safety – please help us to keep our pupils safe
Please can we ask parents and carers to reiterate with their children the importance of being safe when leaving school, whether on bikes, scooters or on foot, and to observe the traffic and the road traffic signs.
We have received several concerns from members of the public about the unsafe behaviour of some of our pupils on the roads and paths surrounding school. We will continue to talk with pupils about safe travel to and from school, but we also ask that parents and carers take an active role in reinforcing this message to create a safer environment for everyone.
Donations for Food Pantry – deadline extended to Friday 11 July 2025
Please note the deadline for donations of food for the Fareham Pantry has been extended to Friday next week. Donations should be dropped off at our reception area.
Key Stage 3 Movie Afternoons
This week we welcomed over 300 pupils with the top positive points to Movie Afternoon as a reward for their hard work. We welcomed Year 7 and 8 pupils who had all received 250 positives between September to May half term and Year 9s with over 150. We are so proud of their commitment and courage to learning and their school wide contribution.
We thoroughly enjoyed their choice of film (and snacks!) and their good company as a group. Well done to all that made our gold standard!
Jamie Oliver – Ready, Steady, Record Break
On Tuesday 1 July, fifteen of our pupils had the unique and enriching opportunity to join thousands of participants and team up with celebrity chef Jamie Oliver in a virtual cookery lesson – all aiming to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest cooking lesson in multiple venues. The goal being to beat the current record of 6,778 participants which took place in Poland in 2015.
At 1100 BST, pupils and staff logged in via Zoom to cook homemade pasta with tomato sauce, led by Jamie’s team from the Cookery School at Oxford Street. Once the dish was prepared and cooked, the pupils sat down together to enjoy the fruits of their labour. This was a truly memorable event and a fantastic chance for the pupils to learn more about healthy eating, gain further confidence in the kitchen, and (hopefully, once the officials have made the required checks!) make history.
No Negatives Day
On Thursday, pupils from Years 7, 8, and 9 were treated with an afternoon outside to celebrate a hugely positive school year of no negative points on ClassCharts! The sun was shining, the pizza was flowing, and the pupils had fun playing football, tennis, and relaxing on the field. Huge congratulations from the year teams for a very successful year; keep up the good work!
Cams Ridge Care Home
Earlier this week, our Music Department had the pleasure of taking 12 talented Year 7 and Year 8 pupils to Cams Ridge Care Home, where they performed a heartfelt selection of songs for the residents. The afternoon was filled with smiles, laughter, and beautiful music, creating a truly uplifting experience for everyone involved. The residents thoroughly enjoyed the performance, and our pupils represented themselves and Cams Hill School with pride, enthusiasm, and kindness. It was a wonderful example of how music can bring joy and connection across generations.
