Academy Status

During the summer and autumn of 2011 the Governors conducted a consultation with Parents to seek views on conversion to academy status. The School’s recent experiences as a Foundation School and, before that, a Grant Maintained School have ensured that it is well-placed to manage its own affairs and optimise the advantages that this brings. The School became an academy on 1 October 2011.

Academy status brings a variety of freedoms within the same legislative framework as exists for all schools. In particular, academy status enables priorities and decisions to be based on the individual circumstances of this School thus maximising resources and opportunities for pupils here. The School has retained a good relationship with Hampshire Local Authority and with other local schools and continues to work in partnership with a wide variety of other organisations.
