Specialist schools are
an important part of the Government's plans to raise standards
in secondary education. The Specialist
Schools Programme (SSP) helps schools, in partnership
with private sector sponsors and supported by additional Government
funding, to establish distinctive identities through their
chosen specialisms and achieve their targets to raise standards.
In July 2010 we were re-designated as a Science & Mathematics
Specialist School for a further three years.

not only to improve the outcomes in Science in the school, but
to improve other subjects’ outcomes and to raise achievements
in the school. It has supported well and in depth, across a wide
range of schools and other partners across a wide geographical
area the science education of young people and wider ECM and family
learning outcomes. It is an evident leader of Science education
in the region with contributions nationally.” - Chris
