We are very proud of our School Council and the contributions made by its members.

The Council occupies an important place in School, giving pupils as many opportunities as possible to undertake responsibilities and to be part of the decision making process.

The Council usually meets twice a term to consider matters raised by staff and pupils. Each Tutor Group sends an elected councillor to meetings. These councillors report back to their peers after every meeting. The representative assigns themselves to "working groups", as detailed below.

AIMS

  • to enable all pupils to be aware of their personal responsibility and to make a positive contribution to the general welfare of the School community through elected  representatives
  • to improve communications within the School for the exchange of ideas and the dissemination of information
  • to give a practical education in democratic procedures
  • to benefit the School and it's community both socially and materially

Catering Group
Pupils share ideas about how the School Dining facilities can be used to best effect and the food options available to pupils (that meet Government guidelines) to promote healthy eating, whilst remaining good value for money, as part of Healthy Schools. The group is also involved in activities to raise funds for future developments.

Road Safety Group
Pupils are involved in the development of a School Travel Plan. This includes determining how pupils travel to School through surveys, promoting cycling and walking and safe travel.

Energy Group
Pupils look at ways of reducing energy usage in School.
