HOCKEY

1. Each team will consist of 6 players and up to 3 substitutes.

2. There are to be no goal keepers. It is suggested that teams play in the format of 3, 2, 1.

3. In every match, at least two girls must be playing in every team at any one time. (Please note that in the Hampshire Mini Games, three girls must be playing at any one time, however, we thought that this might prove difficult for some schools in this festival).

4. Umpiring: Members of Fareham hockey club will be umpiring.

5. Normal hockey rules will apply. There will be an area across the whole of the pitch where we will place cones on each touchline about 5m from the goal line. Players will be able to score from anywhere inside this area.

6. Time: each match will be 15 minutes one way, with no half time. There will only be a two minute break in between matches to keep up the pace of the tournament and ensure that it finishes on time.

7. Substitutes can be made throughout the game.

8. Pitches: three pitches will be set up side by side on the astro turf pitch.

9. The following points are to be awarded: 5 points for a win, 3 for a draw, and 1 for a loss.

10. All teams will be split into three pools. Each team will play all the other teams in their pool. We will then add up the points scored for each team. Each team will then go into another pool depending on their finishing position. Please note that the details of the pools may change slightly if we have a lot of teams entered.

11. In the event of a draw for the 3rd / 4th play off and the final (1st / 2nd place), 5 minutes of extra time will be played one way. If the result still remains a draw, then the outcome will be decided on who has scored the most goals in the pool stages. If this still results in a draw, goals scored against the team in the pool stages will be taken into account.

12. In the event of a draw for the other play off positions, no extra time will be played. Final positions will be determined on goals scored during the pool stages. If this still results in a draw, goals scored against the team in the pool stages will be taken into account.

13. Prizes: each pupil will receive a certificate for participating. The top three teams will receive gold, silver and bronze medals and the winners will also receive a trophy.
