Cams
Hill School was first recognised by government education chiefs
as one of the shining lights in education in
the country in 1998 when we were amongst first 75 schools across
England selected to receive Beacon Status.
This status gave us
financial support to collaborate and form partnerships with many
other primary and secondary schools across the region so as to
develop a series of innovative teaching and learning projects
to enrich and enhance the curriculum.
In Autumn
2002, we were disappointed to learn that the DfES were intending
to phase out Beacon funding for secondary schools.
However Beacon Status was to be replaced with a new initiative
called ‘Leading
Edge’ and in May 2003 we were delighted
when we became the lead school within the Cams Hill Leading Edge
Partnership.
Working
collaboratively with a wide variety of other schools, we have led
a wide range of curriculum enhancing projects over
a number of years. We have led innovative projects which have
covered a wide range of curriculum areas including; Art, Drama,
English, Electronics, Geography, ICT, Mathematics, Modern Foreign
Languages, Performing Arts, Religious Education, and Science.
