GCSE EXAMS 2008

Success in public examinations has always been of great importance to us and our parents. Cams Hill has an excellent record in this respect and the tradition has been maintained during the transition to the National Curriculum. We expect high standards and a high level of motivation.

Almost all our pupils are entered for a full range of GCSE examinations and we expect parents to support us in encouraging this level of commitment. Pupils are normally entered for the examination in Year 11. Some pupils are entered in Year 10.

We value every pupil‘s individual success, regardless of grade and we applaud the pupil who achieves the best he or she can. The less academically able pupil who leaves with seven or eight GCSE grades, which pay testimony to great personal effort, is as successful as the talented academic who achieves deserved top grades. The school is celebrating yet another year of success with excellent achievement from
Year 11 with their GCSE results.

The school continues to enjoy the confidence and positive support of parents and the community. It is this support and genuine working together, which underpins pupil achievement and ensures the school sustains its high standards.

Of the 205 pupils on roll, 84.9% achieved 5+ A* - C exceeding our target for this year (78%) by 6.9%.

  • 83% of pupils achieved at least two Science grades A* - C
  • In addition 68.8% achieved 5+ A* - C including English and Mathematics
  • 27.1% of grades were at A* and A
  • There were 48 pupils with A* grades
  • 99.5% of pupils achieved 5+ A* - G grades overall
