Full
attendance is important for pupils’ learning. Parents
are asked not to take their son/daughter on leave during
school time unless essential/unavoidable.
Requests for special
leave of absence must be made to the HEADTEACHER in writing.
Application should be made well in
advance and parents are strongly advised to apply for leave
of absence before they confirm their holiday arrangements.
A
Request Form is available from Reception. We would advise
parents that any absence can be damaging to education and
that casual absences often give rise to casual attitudes
to school work. Where the Headteacher considers such a request
as unreasonable any such absence will be unauthorised.
If
a pupil is sick, parents are asked to telephone
the school by 8.30am on the first day of absence.
All absences must be explained by letter on the day of
return - even after
a courtesy telephone call has been made, as we are required
to explain all absences with written documentation.
For Medical
appointments a parent’s letter should be shown
to the Form Tutor at morning Registration of the day concerned.
If a pupil has to leave School during the day for any reason
he/she must report to Reception to be signed out with the
note signed by the Tutor. This procedure is vitally important
should there be a fire or other emergency.
We are proud of
our very high levels of attendance and, at the Presentation
Assemblies in July, pupils with a 100% record of attendance
and good punctuality receive a special Certificate to be
added to their Progress File.
